Historians explain why everyone was so darn pale in those Victorian-era portraits

I've always enjoyed taking portraits of friends. Here, late pal Joan models her new blouse in my unfinished Pennwood home. 1979.

Alma A - Summer Feels
The shoot that nearly didn't happen due to my entire Facebook and Instagram accounts being deleted the day after we first started speaking! Funnily enough, this isn't actually the first session we had, but it was the first on film, which is where Alma expressed her admiration of the authenticity of film photography. It only made sense that we took some photos together and make the most of the fact she's extremely photogenic and I love film cameras! This was shot on the Nikon F4 with Kodak UltraMax 400.

T.A.E.s Art Reviews Leaning In And Listening

In Leaning in and Listening, the viewer is confronted with an intimate, psychologically charged portrait executed in dense oil pastel upon an organic, hand-cast paper substrate. The work immediately enters into dialogue with early 20th-century Modernism, operating at the crossroads of School of Paris portraiture, Fauvist chromatic intensity, and German Expressionist structural directness. Through an astute integration of deliberate technical mark-making and an unapologetically tactile,

Portraits Cristian S - Classic
Taken with the trusty Minolta AF 9000, this was mainly an experiment to see how the camera behaved in the studio. Cristi decided to take on a "Classic" look and I think the results came out pretty nice!

18 remarkable dog photos from the that deserve a closer look:

Im going to take a break from the Contax G2 collection for a while.
Not because Ive stopped taking photos with this camera, ( I've sold it )
but because Ive just had a recent roll of film developed
and Ive got quite a lot of half-frame film shots sitting on my hard drive.
But of course were not going to take a break with a mediocre photo. On the contrary, I think this ones really brilliant. Of course, E. is a fantastic and dynamic young woman, but this shot was taken whilst we were out walking, it wasnt posed. It really is the cameras speed and the lenss sharpness that made this possible.
Ive sold my Contax G2, I wasnt using the camera nearly enough myself, and its not the sort of camera that should be left in a cupboard gathering dust. But I can now look back on a few shots I took with it.
I found the Contax to be a particularly fantastic camera for taking a series of portraits. I took it with me to many meetings with people Id never met before, where the aim was for both of us to be happy with the photographic results.
Ive already shared some photos taken with this camera here, but now, as a farewell, Im putting together a collection:

I wonder if anyone ever uses this option or looks at other peoples posts (Let me know!! )

In The Fifth Seduction, less attention is paid to the affair between the two female leads than to how their work relationship and friendship survive the breach of professional boundaries. Featured in this October Love promo, The Fifth Seduction is a contemporary look at messy relationships, true love, and abiding friendship, with an emphasis on HEA.

Between the first photo or series taken with my Contax G2
and the last series,
there was, of course, a lot in between. And lots of photos and portraits.
For example, a series of photos I took just after my Contax G2 had been repaired
(one of the shutter curtains would sometimes get stuck)
The test went well, everything was sharp and fast again...
Oh the picture must have been on Insta before but we don't post anything on that again.
