Hunting season has started again. People are in the parks, and I am having fun drawing them secretly. This year, I brought a new weapon: a uniquely angled fountain pen, which allows me to draw thick and thin strokes alternately. Happy hunting, fellow artists!
Mamma, In the Meantime
In a series of 100 photos taken over a period of 4 years, artist Tony Luciani photographed his mother after she had moved in with him for health reasons. The project began when his mother photo bombed him as he was playing with a new camera in his bathroom. The moment set off a lightbuilb for the concept and the two began to play with ideas for the project. His mother appeared to enjoy the roll playing and the shared memories which were conveyed into many of the images

Portraits of the Photographers Mother
A series of 21 Black & White photographs inspired by the sparse composition of Whistler's Mother, each hand painted by photographer Aline Smithson herself. The project was accomplished over a two year period, creating a way to shift the conversation from mother Katrine's declining health, to matters of art and creativity. Katrine never saw the completed colored versions of the photographs, passing away at 85.

This is one of a fascinating collection of carte de visite portraits of men from the 1880s. They appear to be traditional portraits for their time rather than mugshots, but each has a handwritten description of the sitter's crime and sentence.
The portraits were created by J. D. Cadwallader (1828-1905), who operated a photography studio in Marietta, Ohio, with a branch in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
