When there's no one around with a book I haven't drawn in yet and I feel like drawing, I doodle.
This week at life drawing we were trying to draw in the style of Peter Howson who uses a lot of lines and tends to exaggerate certain features. My attempt in class was not good so I decided to have another go at it. This is faber castel pastel pencils on black pastel paper. Much happier with this attempt

I'm working on a commissioned portrait today of a woman and her favorite hen. Save for my two cat painting commissions, all my art this year has been completely fictional: made up people and made up chickens. For this piece, though, I feel the need to be more mindful in my approach to the piece to bring out her strength and beauty and to capture that special bond between woman and hen.
